DAMPER INSPECTION
Fire and Smoke Damper Inspections

Safe Check follows the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 80 and NFPA 105 as having 100% operability and compliance of all dampers inspected. This means repairing or replacing those dampers found as inoperable during the Damper Inspection.

Safe Check crews receive the necessary training techniques to diagnose dampers and determine whether an “In place” repair or adjustment is needed or a complete damper removal and replacement.

Safe Check Will perform the following during an inspection:

  • Fusible links will be removed and replaced when necessary
  • All dampers shall be operated to verify that they open and close fully
  • The latch (if provided) shall be checked and moving parts lubricated as necessary
  • Confirm there is not any interference with the damper such as rust, misalignment, damaged frames or blades, defective hinges or parts, and/or bent tracks
  • All inspections of fire and smoke dampers shall be electronically entered into a live virtual database to include date of inspection and location along with any applicable deficiencies
