Fire Stopping, Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection Specialists for Hospitals

SafeCheck Sets the Standard in Healthcare Facilities

Most deaths occur from smoke and toxic gases, not from fire.

When talking about fire suppression, most people think that a well “sprinklered” facility will suppress the fire in the area where the fire originated, saving lives and property.  While sprinklers may be able to suppress some fires, in nearly every fire where water is applied to a combustible material, deadly smoke and toxic gases are created.

When the “Fire Zone” is protected by a properly rated fire resistant assembly, consisting of: rated fire doors; fire and smoke dampers in the HVAC ducting system; and the correct fire stopping materials in and around all wall penetrations, the fire, toxic gases and deadly smoke cannot travel from the room of origin to other areas of the building.

The bottom line is that sprinklers alone won’t work; passive fire protection, called “compartmentation” by the fire suppression professionals, must be part of the fire protection equation.

Safe Check sets the standard in the industry for Fire and Smoke Damper inspection. We do that by providing a one stop shop for: inspecting, maintaining, repairing fire and smoke dampers in the HVAC ducting system; and, surveying and installing applications of the correct fire stopping materials in and around wall penetrations, thereby maintaining effective “compartmentation” and creating “fire safe zones” in healthcare facilities. “Compartmentation” delays the spread of fire, but more importantly it delays the spread of its toxic gases and deadly smoke, while awaiting the arrival of fire fighters.

Safe Check understands that Healthcare facilities compliance with Joint Commission requirements is crucial.

It is well settled that passive fire protection is a major component of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes 101,80, and 105 as well as Joint Commission Regulations.
